Terms of Service

Last updated August 2026 · Plain English, no gotchas.

1. What Open Emergent is

Open Emergent is an open-source AI website and app builder. You describe what you want in plain English, we generate source code using the AI model you choose, and you own the output. The platform is provided as-is, without uptime or fitness guarantees.

2. Your code is yours

100% of the code generated for you belongs to you. You can export it, self-host it, modify it, sell it, or deploy it anywhere. We claim no ownership, license-back, or revenue share over anything you build.

3. Bring your own key

Generation runs on API keys you provide (OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and others). You are responsible for your relationship with those providers, including their terms and usage costs. We charge no credits and add no markup — your only AI cost is whatever your provider bills you directly.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use Open Emergent to build malware, phishing pages, spam infrastructure, CSAM, or anything that violates applicable law. Do not abuse shared infrastructure (rate limits, preview hosting, deploy pipelines). We may suspend accounts that harm the service or other users.

5. Open-source license

The Open Emergent platform itself is distributed under the MIT License. Your generated apps are yours and are not bound by our license — license them however you like.

6. No warranty, limited liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Generated code may contain bugs or security issues — review it before deploying to production. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Open Emergent is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

7. Changes

We may update these terms as the project evolves. Material changes will be noted in the changelog. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
